From this Monday, January 25, the Ministry of Production(Produce) has concluded the second fishing season for anchovy (Engraulis ringens) and white anchovy (Anchoa nasus), in the North-Central Zone, for Indirect Human Consumption (CHI), for be in the reproductive process of spawning.
 
Ministerial Resolution No. 00025-2021-PRODUCE includes the recommendations of the Peruvian Sea Institute (Imarpe) and focuses from the extreme north of the maritime domain and 16 ° 00′LS.
 
In its report, on the reproductive process of the anchovy and the North-Central stock, Imarpe concludes that the reproductive indices of the resource show an increase in gonadal maturation and spawning, which will intensify from the fourth week of January.
 
Therefore, Imarpe recommended applying precautionary measures for the conservation of the reproductive stock of the anchovy resource.
 
Produce's resolution also specifies that the unloading and processing of the anchovy resource, extracted within the framework of the Second Fishing Season 2020 in the North - Central Zone, must be carried out within 24 and 48 hours after the end of the season, respectively.
 
It should be noted that the suspension of the second fishing season occurs after registering an advance close to 90% in the total quota established in 2.78 million tons and that began on November 12 of last year.
