Today’s Commentary:
Peruvian fishmeal producers are maintaining a firm pricing stance. The pre-sale reference price for the new-season Super Prime fishmeal is around USD 2,550/ton CNF, up by USD 50/ton.

In China, imported fishmeal market, arrivals have been slow, and inventories have declined to approximately 140,000 tons. In the short term, with firm overseas prices, falling inventories at China main ports, and concentrated holdings among few traders, bullish sentiment in the fishmeal market still persists.

Recently, SBM is much weaker. Since China has agreed to relax quarantine standards for weed contamination in Brazilian soybean shipments, the customs clearance of arriving vessels is expected to accelerate.

Meanwhile, with hog, broiler, and layer farming all operating at losses, even though rising crude oil prices have pushed up freight costs and offered some price support, it is still difficult to offset the seasonal pressure brought by the large Brazilian soybean harvest entering the market.

At present, the price of 43% protein soybean meal at major domestic oil mills has fallen back to its lowest level since early to mid-March.

In particular, hog producers and feed manufacturers are expected to adjust feed formulations by reducing the inclusion rate of relatively high-cost soybean meal, thereby leading to an overall decline in soybean meal demand.
