Today’s Commentary:
Fishmeal: Peru has announced anchovy fishing quota of 1,914,049 tons for the north-central region (Season A), with the season officially starting at 00:00 local time on April 9.
Peruvian fishmeal producers are maintaining firm pricing intentions, with pre-sale reference prices around USD 2,550/ton (CNF) level.
In China, fishmeal inventories have risen slightly to over 150,000 tons. However, as the quota announcement is considered neutral overall, the market is expected to remain firm but cautious in the short term, with close attention on upcoming fishing conditions.
SBM: China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) released the hog feed-to-meat price ratio for the first week of April. In the hog sector, future breeding is expected to incur a loss of RMB 462.04 per head. Due to expanding losses at the downstream farming level, demand has weakened, which in turn is pressuring raw material prices downward. As supply gradually becomes more ample, prices are expected to remain in a fluctuating but generally weak trend.
