Today’s Commentary:
Peru has extended its north-central anchovy fishing ban indefinitely, with no date set for its removal. The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) kept the restrictions active past the initial June 10, 2026 expiration date. The decision follows strict scientific warnings regarding a major fishery collapse risk triggered by an active coastal El Nino.
In China, fishmeal RMB prices keeping climbing further, feed manufacturers are expected to reduce fishmeal inclusion rates in feed formulations, weighing on overall demand. The Chinese government is also encouraging the import of a Border range of alternative protein ingredients including enzymatically treated, hydrolyzed protein products, as part of efforts to diversify protein sources.
Poultry meal RMB prices have continued to rise, mainly supported by the sustained strength in fishmeal prices. The upward trend remains intact. Fresh domestic Chinese 65% protein PBM is currently priced at approximately USD 120/mt lower than imported USA PBM. Meanwhile, MBM RMB prices have also increased, although at a more moderate pace.
