Soybeans had a slightly bullish report this week due to a lowering of the USDA estimated yield levels for soybeans – not much of a lowering but enough to push soybean prices up by about USD 10 to 12 m/t and soymeal by USD 10 to 11 m/t by the end of the week. ......please click to see more details

Once again this week, we had a very quiet time in the grain business. Only soymeal prices showed much of a change and moved about USD 5 m/t higher. Corn, soybeans and wheat prices all ended the week within about USD 1 of where they started the week.......please click to see more details

Hammersmith Weekly Feed Grain and Protein Report Wk# 49

The big news this week was the latest USDA WASDE report – a report that changed little or nothing from the November report, at least as far as US supply and demand. Even for world numbers there were no real surprises – Australia wheat is forecasted higher as is Brazil corn – most numbers were u changed. The next USDA WASDE report will be out on January 12, 2017 and it is expected that this report will more exciting.

It was quite a down week for grain prices this week with corn down by about USD 5 m/t in both cash and futures. Soybeans and soymeal had the most negative week with soybeans down by about USD 7 m/t while soymeal was down by about USD 10 m/t. Wheat was down on the week too with US hard red winter wheat down by about USD 8 m/t and soft red winter wheat down by about USD 6 m/t........

Once again this week, corn had quite a calm week, although there were some small attempts at a price rally on the corn futures market. Corn prices really haven’t done too much over the past couple of weeks.
