The big news at the end of the week was the US Supreme Court ruling against all the import tariffs put in place by the Trump government. One has to wonder if the US will actually have to refund all the “illegal” tariffs that have been paid. Monday is a holiday in the USA for Presidents’ Day and China starts New Year on February 17 for about 2 weeks.This week was another USDA WASDE week --- they sure seem to come up quickly anymore. Once again this week there was very little change in USA corn prices – up or down about on dollar. US soybeans were up very strongly this week gaining about USD 19 m/t with soymeal moving USD 10 m/t higher. Not much change in US corn prices as the week ended --- no more than USD 1 down. US soybeans also were almost unchanged at the end of the week while US soymeal was up by USD 5 m/t. It was a short work week in the US this week due to the Monday holiday. US corn prices finished the week up by about USD 2 m/t with soybeans up by about USD 4 m/t and soymeal up by USD 7 m/t.
