So, where do we stand on prices at the end of this four day trading week in the US. Corn prices moved a little higher, up by about USD 2 m/t – soybeans too were up by a couple of dollars, soymeal was pretty well unchanged. This weekend is a holiday weekend in the USA with businesses closed on Monday for the Memorial Day holiday. Ramadan also ends this weekend with Muslim countries celebrating Eid al-Fitr – the celebration of breaking the fast. These days market prices only seem to want to go lower as there just hasn’t been any news in the market to push prices higher. Corn prices did almost nothing on the week while both soybeans and soymeal moved lower by USD 3 to 5 m/t. Looking at news reports this week, it looks like many countries will begin to wind down a little on some of the COVID-19 restrictions. Hopefully, this will work well and not kick off a second wave of infections.
