Peru Anchovy Fishing Season B Authorized

Produce authorized the next start of the second anchovy fishing season. Maximum catch limit will be 2,047 million MT, a lower quota than the first season.
 
Through a resolution in an extraordinary edition issued today, the Ministry of Production (Produce) authorized the next start of the second anchovy fishing season in the north-central area of ​​the coast, between the extreme north of the maritime domain of Peru. and 16 ° 00′LS.
 
The standard establishes two areas of authorization:
 
a. In the area from 12º00 ′ LS to the extreme north of the maritime domain, the fishing season will begin at 00:00 hours on November 22, 2021.
 
b. In the area from 12º00 ′ LS to 16º00 ′ LS, the start will be subject to the Peruvian Sea Institute (Imarpe) reporting the results of the exploratory fishing that will begin this November 15, which will take seven days , "Without prejudice to the fact that Imarpe may recommend the establishment, among others, of total or partial protection measures for the juvenile fraction, as appropriate," the Produce resolution refers to.
 
Likewise, for the second fishing season, a maximum total allowable catch limit of the north-central zone of the anchovy and white anchovy resource for indirect human consumption of two million forty-seven thousand tons (2,047 million MT) is established.
 
"The end date of the second season of anchovy fishing in 2021 will be once the authorized limit has been reached, or failing that, when Imarpe recommends it due to environmental or biological circumstances," the rule adds.
 
It should be remembered that the first season of anchovy fishing for indirect human consumption took place between April 23 and August 11 last. And a landing of 2.46 million MT was registered, which is equivalent to 98.1% of the assigned fishing quota (2.5 million MT).
